Marriage is God’s idea!  The book of Genesis 2:24 teaches us, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh”.

Marriage Week is being celebrated from Monday 8th – Sunday 14th February. It is a time set aside every year to recognise the vibrancy, diversity and beauty of marriage, as well as its role as the basis for family life. It has been held every year in the UK since 1997.

Marriage remains incredibly popular - over 90% of young people in the UK aspire to be married at some point in the future, and contrary to popular belief that marriages don’t last, two out of every three first marriages will last until one partner dies, and one in two second or subsequent marriages will also last a lifetime. 

This week let’s invest in marriages! You don’t have to be married to do this. You could spend some time praying for marriages or you could volunteer your time to babysit whilst a married couple goes out on a date.

A strong marriage is the foundation for a healthy family and a healthy family is one of the most positive influences on society. Leave a legacy for generations to come, by working towards  a strong marriage.
